ATI Using PDF Comments

PDF documents can be annotated when you have finished writing and the PDF is the final version of your work. Add annotations using the note function of your preferred PDF Reader (such as Adobe Acrobat, Foxit, PdfXchange, or Preview). QDR suggests that you do not use Skim for Mac. When using Mendeley, please export PDFs including annotations. The instructions below are for Adobe Acrobat.

  1. Highlight the text or citation you want to annotate and then click the "Add note to text" button in the comment toolbar.

  2. Add your annotation into the box and then click “Post”. QDR doesn’t prescribe precise formatting for annotations. However, we recommend using bold font for the labels of the different annotation components (Source excerpt, Analytic note, etc.).

A sample .pdf document with a single annotation, created with Adobe Acrobat, can be found here.
